Sage Brings Accounting Software to the Mac
Exciting news for enterprises that use Macs as their IT platform-Sage 50 is now Mac compatible. Sage is a business management software solutions vendor with a suite of platforms in several sectors, including accounting.
Apple Mac users can now enjoy the benefits of Instant Accounts and Sage Micropay Professional payroll software. “Demand has never been greater for complete and easy-to-use business software solutions on the Mac,” said Liam Mullaney, managing director at Sage Ireland. It was only a matter of time until Sage brought their user-friendly product to Mac’s user-friendly interface.  ”Sage Ireland is giving Mac users the functionality they are looking for while delivering the kind of user-friendly experience that drew them to the Mac in the first place,” said Mullaney.
Mac seems to be the IT platform of choice for several companies, however in the past accounting and payroll software had to be run on standalone windows-based PCs. Now that Sage’s accounting software is Mac compatible, businesses can integrate their business software on a single easy-to-use Mac platform.
Beryl Furlong, GM of Apple reseller Typetec explains that “Our Mac-based customers have for many years been looking for a sound, financial application that is supported on the Mac OS and I think this clearly offers a very attractive solution to them.”

This month, Sage Software announced a partnership agreement with ITE Distribution, which is one of Dubai’s top IT distribution conglomerates. Specifically, ITE will be broadening exposure in the Middle East for Sage’s Peachtree accounting software, and their ACT! contact and CRM solutions.

According to the contract, ITE will oversee all distribution activities for Peachtree by Sage and ACT!, from product launch, to in-store merchandising, to development with resellers. Particularly, they look forward to promoting Peachtree by Sage, with its capabilities to project cash flow, perform multi-year reports, give real-time alerts, and track expenses.

Regarding the motives behind the partnership, Sage cites they high regional demand for business and contact management applications. But the partnership will also bolster ITE’s position in the software market, as they were previously known as dealing mainly in hardware. Still, ITE put another feather in its cap earlier this year: they signed a contract to distribute Microsoft off-the-shelf software a couple months back.

Intuit Believes There is No Preference for Online or OnPremise Software

The type of software busineses like to invest in is often a very important decision to make. The way software is delivered affects the way it is utilized in the company and also affects the pricing and cost of the use of the software. Traditional and Online Software both have their benefits and their drawbacks and Intuit believes that companies would really not care about how they choose to have their software delivered.

Intuit has taken a different approach with its accounting software in specifically gearing its product towards a targeted group of small companies. In addition it is also expanding its software products to include many other business software technologies which will also geared toward these same companies. Intuit is aware of the two different modes of software delivery and the doubts companies may have towards each one. To approach this problem, Intuit has decided to use a hybrid strategy in order to try and satisfy the needs of a variety of vendors.
