Peachtree Accounting Software Review: Ease of Use

Peachtree accounting software is a small business accounting package offered by Sage. It is one of the most popular software packages out there, and with good reason. Historically the software has been well received, and the 2011 version is sure to do the same. If you are considering accounting software, Peachtree accounting software may be the choice for you.

A Quick Review of Peachtree Accounting Software

The one point against Sage Peachtree accounting software is that it is hard to use on the front end. You have to configure the features and run the setup wizard. If you are experienced with accounting, this should not be much of a problem. However, if you have not set up a company on accounting software, you will want to have some help. That said, once the set up is complete, the actual usage is pretty easy, and intuitive.

Peachtree Accounting Software Review: Help and Support

Like just about every provider, Peachtree accounting software does not allow for direct support contact unless you subscribe to a support plan. There are free support options like a resource center and an online FAQ section. They do have three service plans for the direct support via telephone, email, or chat support and Sage University is another of the options that allows for real-time training and style guides.

Peachtree Accounting Software Review: Accounts

Accounts payable software and accounts receivable software are both powerful sections that do similar functions for exactly the opposite purpose. With the payables section, set up of vendors is easy, as well as check writing. The receivable section has an easy customer set up function and it is easy to add payments or invoices to their account.

The inventory section is exceptionally powerful and does just about everything you could expect. It tracks inventory and can automatically re-order and it can work with your barcode system. The payroll section is not quite as easily set up, and requires another wizard to get it properly done. Once set up, the tools are good, but it does take some time.

The banking feature is what you would expect with the ability to write checks and reconcile accounts. You can subscribe for the ability to do direct deposit. Job costing, like the other accounts, it must be set up before use. This need to set up these accounts is nice if you want to keep your interface from being cluttered, but a frustration if you need something new quickly.

Peachtree Accounting Software Review: Reporting

Peachtree accounting software also has extensive reporting features. The general ledger choices are as extensive as you could need, and allow for seven different reports. The fixed asset reporting also is impressive. With 200 fixed assets, most small businesses will be covered by this feature. This is also a feature that is usually only in the competitions top of the line offerings, but it is on all Peachtree accounting software offerings. Many defined reports are set up for accounts receivable and payable accounts, as well as inventory reports. The whole set up of Peachtree accounting software is easy to use after initial setup, powerful accounts and reporting features, and an all around impressive set of features that is hard to beat.
