Intuit Health Solution Receives ONC-ATCB Certification

2011/2012 Modular Certification for Personal Health Record, 10.7 Includes Timely Access of Electronic Records

CARY, N.C. (January 27, 2011) – Intuit Health announced that its patient electronic access solution, Intuit Health Personal Health Record, 10.7, is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as an EHR Module on January 14, 2011 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB. The solution was certified in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and includes timely access of electronic health records.

The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Intuit Health is the health care business unit of Intuit Inc (Nasdaq:INTU).

“We’ve made it easy for providers to make health information available to their patients online, and created a secure, seamless and convenient way for patients to view their data,” said Steve Malik, president and general manager of Intuit Health. “We’re honored to be certified for the timely access criteria and believe this certification further assures providers that we can help them achieve that objective.”

Intuit Health’s secure patient data export lets physicians send secure messages or data files to their patients via their patient portal as easily as they would send files to a printer or fax. Once the information is posted, patients can easily and securely access their health records at their convenience.

“We’re seeing high patient utilization, and that’s important for providers to meet the timely access benchmarks,” added Malik. “Our solution enables us to track, audit, and confirm the number of patients viewing their health information and provide the utilization data back to providers.”

This EHR Module is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ATCB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments. The certification number for Intuit Health Personal Health Record, Version 10.7, is CC-1112-740620-1.

The product complies with the criteria for Foundational Security and Privacy, meeting certification criteria for: Access Control, Emergency Access, Automatic Log-off, Audit Log, Integrity, Authentication, General Encryption, Encryption when exchanging electronic health information, and Timely Access.

“The testing and certification process expands the number of products available to providers who want to purchase and implement certified EHR technology and achieve meaningful use in time for the 2011/2012 incentives,” said Dr. Karen M. Bell, Chair, CCHIT.

Intuit Health’s secure patient data export functionality is part of the company’s patient portal currently used by more than 3 million patients and 33,000 providers. Patients and their doctors use the portal more than 100,000 times each day to request appointments and prescription refills, pay bills, complete medical forms, receive lab results and clinical summaries, conduct virtual office visits, and communicate about related care and administrative issues.

The Intuit Health patient portal integrates with multiple EHR products to help providers lower costs, increase office efficiencies, reduce no shows, and receive payments faster, while increasing patient satisfaction. The portal has also been certified with numerous EHR products and is listed as the “additional software” to help providers achieve the following core and menu requirements for electronic copy of health information and clinical summaries:

  • Providing patients with clinical summaries for each office visit for 50 percent of patients within three days.
  • Providing more than 50 percent of patients who request it with an electronic copy of their health information.
  • Sending more than 20 percent of patients’ reminders for preventive and follow-up care.
