Intuit Receives Two Prestigious Awards for Social Customer Support, Engagement Customer Support and Intuit ‘Love a Local Business’ Social Program Earn Groundswell Recognition

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (October 28, 2011) – Today, Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq:INTU) received a pair of Forrester Groundswell Awards for its innovative use of social technologies to achieve business and organizational goals.

Forrester Research, Inc., the independent research firm, honored’s customer support and engagement program offered jointly with Get Satisfaction in the Business to Consumer North America Supporting category. In addition, Intuit Small Business’s “Love a Local Business” program won an award in the Business to Consumer North America Social Impact category.

Intuit has received four Forrester Groundswell Awards since the program began in 2008. The first two came in 2008 and recognized Intuit’s use of social media and user-contribution systems in the small business and consumer markets. The most recent wins were in 2010 for Intuit Brainstorm and TurboTax Live Community. Brainstorm is a Web-based tool that lets employees share, experiment and collaborate on new ideas through online crowdsourcing. The Intuit TurboTax Live Community widget connects people to free tax advice. In addition, Intuit received Forrester’s Company Transformation award in 2008.

Intuit Small Business launched its Love a Local Business grant competition in 2009 to support small businesses facing the challenges of economic recession. The competition, driven by social media, rallies local business fans to nominate their favorites for cash grants.

In some cases, the grants have saved small businesses from bankruptcy and have reinvigorated communities’ dedication to buy local. Intuit invested an additional $1 million in the program this year to fund Hiring Grants, which are offered to help small businesses create jobs in their communities.

Forth accepted both awards on behalf of Intuit following his presentation on mobile innovation at the Forrester Consumer Forum in Chicago on Oct. 27-28. His talk focused on how companies can effectively and strategically expand across various mobile platforms, including the development of’s new iPad app. The presentation followed a June 2011 report from Forrester titled, Case Study: Intuit Adapts Its Product Portfolio To Exploit Tablets, that highlighted how Intuit’s approach to innovation helps it quickly adapt products for tablets such as the iPad.

The Forrester Groundswell Awards recognize quality and excellence from companies that use social applications and technologies to accomplish business objectives.
