Openbravo ERP Customer Deployments on Amazon Web Services Surge 187% in Last Year

Cost-effective, Scalable ERP in the Cloud Improves Performance of Small and Medium Businesses

SAN FRANCISCO (September 21, 2011) – Openbravo, the agile ERP company, today announced customer deployments of its flagship ERP solution on Amazon Web Services (AWS) have increased over 187% in the last 12 months. Downloaded over 2,000,000 times, Openbravo is a leading popular open source ERP solution. When deployed on AWS, customers can realize powerful business benefits beyond traditional legacy ERP deployments that require on-premise computing. These benefits include lower application and infrastructure costs, faster speed of deployment, global reach and greater application scalability.

“Openbravo Professional Edition deployed on AWS is a fast and cost-effective way for small businesses to benefit from world-class ERP capabilities without the time and expense of owning your own infrastructure – in fact, our full Openbravo solution was deployed and operational in less than 60 days,” said Isabel Garcia Ipiens, Operations Director at IDEA. “Openbravo gives us centralized control of procurement, sales and financial processes for all of our operations. Because we deployed on AWS, as our business grows, our Openbravo instance easily scales to meet our needs.”

Openbravo’s agile ERP approach is a significant departure from mainstream ERP, which requires businesses to procure, deploy and manage expensive compute environments to realize value. Openbravo has a modular architecture that allows for rapid deployment and offers over 325 pre-integrated modules to provide businesses with any additional functionality they require. Running on AWS, customers can access Openbravo ERP instantly from anywhere in the world.

“Openbravo continues to demonstrate a clear commitment to the success of their ERP customers on AWS,” said Terry Wise, Director of Business Development, Amazon Web Services. “As a leading open source ERP, there is a tremendous opportunity for more Openbravo users to realize the business benefits of the secure, on-demand, and pay as you go cloud services from AWS.”

Based on customer demand, Openbravo created and supports 32 and 64 bit Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for use in the AWS regions around the world. The Openbravo AMIs are backed by the Amazon Elastic Block Storage (EBS) service, allowing customers to create full machine backups or launch a cloned instance in a matter of minutes. “Business need agility to effectively compete in this era of intensifying global competition. ERP enables business agility by increasing employee productivity and delivering rapid ROI,” said Paolo Juvara, CEO of Openbravo. “Because Openbravo is 100% web-based, it can be rapidly deployed on the AWS platform to dramatically reduce both software and infrastructure costs for our shared customers.”

There were over 500 new Openbravo deployments on AWS in the last 12 months. In 2010, usage of Openbravo surged in North America by 110 percent, as deployments increased from 1,300 to nearly 2,800. The United States has consistently been the second largest consumer of Openbravo ERP technology since the company accepted its first venture capital investment in 2006.
